This light came on during my morning commute. I immediately wonder WTF could possibly be wrong with my new car. Turns out, it’s just asking for an oil change and tire rotation since I am at almost 4,900 miles and they’re scheduled for 5,000. Oh, okay. Fancy.

I honestly hate those reminders. Honda makes it where the reminder comes on (and stays on) the trip computer each time, usurping your normal mpg/miles screen, and causing your average person to rush it in for an oil change prematurely. To my knowledge, most of them are just fancy rev counters, not actual oil quality monitors. Very annoying. As soon as I'm out of warranty, I'm sending a sample to Blackstone so we can start going 7,500+ miles between changes.

This one is pretty non-intrusive. Just the little wrench light and the maintenance screen, but you only access that by entering that menu. No chimes or anything, thankfully.

That is a really shitty way to remind people of an oil change.

Massive valvetrain failure?

Nope, basic maintenance.

That one light looks super annoying.

On my old A6, the center display would just read “Service due!” and then you’d bring it in.

Well, there's a maintenance screen on the radio that tells you what you need.

My old Civic had one of those - it required a secret handshake to get it to turn off after changing the oil. I suppose it’s not a bad thing for folks that don’t keep track of things but kind of annoying for me personally... I too would always get that, “oh my gosh! something is terribly wrong!” panic every time it would kick on.
